Enhancing your Professinal Toolkit

Thank Yous

At the beginning I would like to thank the participants in this workshop: you were the reason this was a really great and inspiring workshop! I was really thrilled with your openness and willingness to share with your positive attitudes with your ideas... I was really inspired and motivated! So thank you all!

IdeaBehindTheSession

GoalS

When I first started preparing this session I had divided the different types of tools into Technical tools --> where the main focus is on some software or technical tool - basically an object, something outside of the person using the tool

Interpersonal tools --> these are techniques a person uses when interacting with others - the focus is on the person and not on some software or technical tool.

When preparing the session I obviously took another look at the Weinberg's book - and was surprised to find that the tools listed there seem to be at a level of outlooks on life, sometimes even character traits. For example Jerry introduces:

The courage stick: the courage to try out new things and risk failure. The wisdom box: the ability to know what is right for me and what isn't The yes/no medallion: the ability to say yes and no and mean what I say.

That had me rather puzzled at first. Because on first sight mindsets seemed to me to be something someone has - and not a tool he uses...

But then I remembered that actually as consultants we sell ourselves as "tools" to our client - hence it seemed to make some sense. And it certainly makes sense that mindsets or outlooks on life and work actually do make work life easier or more difficult.

So I decided to add mindsets to the workshop as well.
