Rob Day
CONTACT PERSON, CASTING DIRECTOR & CO-SCRIPT WRITER

An experienced trainer/mentor in OO methods and project management, Rob specialises in retrospectives (aka audits, reviews & health checks) of OO projects.

Rob is prepared to sacrifice his serious reputation in the OO community (!)to provide SPA delegates with the opportunity to see their work in a humourous light. In addition to being crowned on stage with a pointy-hair wig (1999) and appearing as his alter ego Belinda Binda (2000 & 2004), Rob has helped co-script all the OT plays with the other OT Players. The exploitation of XP techniques to play writing in 2001, 2002 and 2003 proved very effective.

More recently Rob lead two sessions with Debbie Lawther focusing on the value of the Soft Systems Methodology (SSM) as an effective technique for kick starting the early stages of software projects.

Rob also co-ran a workshop with Eoins Woods at Agile Business 2005 entitled "RAD: Really Awful Design - Really?" This examined whether architecture can fit within a DSDM project and considered the proposition that an "architectural suitability filter" should be developed by the DSDM Consortium.

Rob took time out for personal reasons, losing his wife of 34 years to cancer in 2009. He is now re-married, living in Sweden and is a lecturer at the School of Engineering in Jonkoping University. Apart from teaching software rob is programme manager for a new Masters degree in Software Product Engineering. Rob retains a strong interest in "evidence based software engineering" and model driven software development. He is patiently awaiting the day when translational code generation eventually comes of age!
