John Pagonis graduated from the department of Electronic Systems Engineering, at the University of Essex, UK, as one of the first few students to receive a BEng in Computers and Networks (1997) and an MSc in Computers and Information Networks (1998). John joined Symbian Ltd in 1998, where he worked on the development of the Ericsson R380 smartphone, then for the team that developed the Symbian OS Bluetooth stack. John has worked on many areas of Symbian OS, including multimedia communications, location based services, telephony and comms.

John is also a part-time PhD student, working in the area of Evolving Personal Agent Environments and proactive services, focusing on the issue of information overload. Some other of his research interests include embedded and real time operatring systems, organisational patterns, computer and wireless personal area networks, software agents, software engineering, object technology, wearable and wireless information devices as well as resource constrained systems and user interfaces. John is an open source advocate and believes that it is better when certain things are kept unread ;-).
