Jane's involvement with object technology began in 1989 when she was first introduced to Smalltalk. She has participated in the OT/SPA conferences since their inception both as a session leader and as an organiser. Jane is a Chair of the BCS SPA Specialist Group. She works for the University of Portsmouth where she combines being an Associate Dean in the Faculty of Creative & Cultural Industries with research into virtual worlds such as Second Life and continuing to teach such things as patterns, Java, UML and object oriented design processes to her students.
