I am a Senior Principal Researcher in the Empirical Software Engineering research group at National ICT Australia (NICTA), based in Sydney. NICTA is Australia’s centre of excellence for Information and Communications Technology R&D.
Until March 2004, I was the Chief Architect in Information Sciences and Engineering at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Washington State, USA.
I also hold the positions of Conjoint Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of New South Wales and Honorary Associate at the School of Information Technologies at the University of Sydney in Australia. These enable me to teach and supervise graduate students.
I’m basically a software {architect, researcher, engineer}. I work on a whole range of projects, from foundational, empirical software architecture research and new technology development, to designing distributed architectures for applications and initiating process improvements in software engineering organizations. I guess I must enjoy the variety!
