- technology now mature
- are 13 year olds the [new] barometer of the industry?
- niche use is good [web technologies can make niches viable]
- aspects [of Web 2.0]: technology, business, social
- [there is] convergence of these aspects [in Web 2.0]
- importance of knowing the principles of designing distributed systems [because web-based systems are distributed systems]
- [we must] use the Web 2.0. world to interact with the new [inexperienced, untrained] Web 2.0 developers and hand on our experience [The point being that these developers are unlikely to be reachable via more conventional channels]
- continued rise of dynamic languages (to fit with the dynamic nature of the Web 2.0 world)
- teaching computer science concepts even more important [because use of Web 2.0 technologies raises difficult computing design problems, and the people developing (not using) these technologies need computer science knowledge]
- teach language diversity, code reading [skills] [Because a Web 2.0 system usually combines parts written by others using a variety of tools]
- teach more communication skills, social interaction, especially with customers
- wide range of skill level of [Web 2.0 application] developers, some with very limited skills
