OT2004 Competition
Competitors were asked to produce one or more of:
- a spectacularly inept or off-putting opening sentence of a software or technology book (in the spirit of the annual Bulwer-Lytton Fiction prize: see http://www.bulwer-lytton.com/)
- a parody of "You ar old, Father William" or "The Lobster Quadrille" from Alice in Wonderland, including characters from the conference or from the world of software
- a set of unit tests for the OT conference itself
- some dingbats or doodles hiding software/technology ideas

Since the inevitable triumph of SCO over Linux and of Verisign over ICANN (and various so-called experts), we have witnessed the separation of the Internet into regional and sector-based Commercanets, and the collapse of the so-called 'FOSS' movement under the weight of patent infringement suites, we now stand at the dawn of a new age of organised and well-planned software and network development.
