I work for OCTO Technology, as the Managing Director of the UK branch.

I have been designing and implementing custom internet solutions for the past 3.5 years, using mostly J2EE components (but also some Microsoft DNA architectures :) ).

I regularly write articles for the press (mostly french magazines so far ...) and have spoken at some conferences (IBM Conferences, Inprise conference, Club Java, JSIG UK, Open Source days Luxembourg, etc). I have also co-authored a white papers on Application Servers and another one on EAI architectures (available on Octo's web site ... in french ...).

I am an avid fan of both open source concepts and agile methodologies (Extreme Programming and co.). I am a big believer of tools empowering practices. As a proof, I created the Jakarta Cactus [1] framework to help write unit tests for server side java development. I am also a member of the Jakarta community and you can find me lurking every day on the Jakarta mailing lists where I participate as a developer/user to several projects (Cactus, Ant, Struts, Gump, Maven, Commons HttpClient, Avalon, Log4j).

I constantly survey the java open source component land and use a great deal of them on customer projects, to complement the vendor infrastructure tools.
