At my current company, I typically spend at least an hour or two a day, if not more, with someone in the company outside of the software development group. Input from our software user community is very important to us on the direction and quality of our software. For example, we just put together a satisfaction survey for one or our larger applications, so we can use the feedback to drive priorities in the upcoming releases. Something interesting I've worked on lately is a process built upon pairwise algorithms and exploratory testing that in prototype form is improving our ability to sustain path coverage while increasing the number of complex bugs found prior to release.

Before ZS, I came from SPSS, Inc. where I headed up solution architecture for SPSS’s services division, specializing in data research. My team focused on global research implementations. I architected enterprise solutions for the Centers for Disease Control, Greenwich Associates, Research International (UK and Global), amongst others, and was on the expert committee for the promulgation of University of Michigan’s Data Definition Initiative. Prior to my tenure at SPSS, I was Director of Data Services at the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, where I helped manage large social statistical research datasets from a technical perspective.
