SPA Conference session: Sea Stories and Fairy Tales

One-line description:To explore story level testing in all its facets

Session format: Workshop (75 mins) [read about the different session types]

Abstract:Lets pretend that there is no discussion on unit testing; everybody does that, right? And everybody sees the benefits, right? But what about automated functional acceptance testing? Who is doing that and how? Are you confused by the terminology people use? What do you see as the benefits and other consequences of your approach? What tools do you use and what do you like or hate about it? This session is about story level testing, tools, environments, contexts, investments, benefits, consequences and moreover about learning from each other in this area. We will gather approaches used by the participants in this area, organize them and and have small groups come up with pro's cons and room for improvements.

We've been struggling with automated functional testing tools ourselves - (ab)using them, difficulty in use, introduction, etc, but leave room for wider (e.g. non-tool related) discussions if needed. Our process enables participants to discuss what they care about at the moment the workshop happens.

Health and Safety warning: This is an exploratory workshop! We bring the shop, you do the work (belgian chocolates are not included in this session).

Audience background:developers, testers. People who (help) maintain automated tests on another level than units.

Benefits of participating:To get more insight in what is actually used by others in practice. Be inspired by others.
