SPA Conference session: Solo Scrum | |||
| One-line description: | How can we adapt agile "better practices" for solo developers? | ||
| Session format: | Workshop (75 mins) [read about the different session types] | ||
| Abstract: | Whether we're throwing together a side project, starting our own open source offering or doing smaller consulting projects, most of us spend at least some time working on projects where we are the only programmer. XP engineering practices and Lean and Scrum methodologies have been successful at improving the performance of programming teams, but can we re-purpose elements of these approaches for the solo developer? The session will start with a review of some experiments (successful and otherwise) I've performed over the last couple of years from "conference pairing" to "solo scrum". We'll then brainstorm some methodologies, concepts and engineering practices that might plausibly be adapted to solo development and will break into groups to discuss and propose possible solutions. Afterwards we'll set up a Google group for keeping in touch and reporting back ongoing experiences. | ||
